simply stampin' challenge week 57

Hi there everyone! Well I've had a rubish cold this week and therefore just about managed to do the housework nd general bits and bobs that I NEED to do so no energy for blogging this week. Sorry, I do have mountains of stuff to show you all, honestly!
Anyway its Simply Stampin' time again. This week's challenge is a theme, which is...

Perfect Pairs

I've got to say when I sat down pretty late on Thursday night to try and put something together, I was really NOT at all inspired! I didn't know what I was going to do, so I hope you like what I ended up with.

Me & You Hearts

Stamp Set: I {heart} Hearts, Tea Shoppe
Ink: Real Red, Regal Rose
Cardstock: Whisper White, Real Red
Punch: Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border
Accessories: Real Red Button
Thread: Whisper White Baker's Twine

So as I said, I wasn't inspired but I had the Tea Shoppe set out (in the new Summer mini releases May 1st!) and I saw the stamp set that says tea for two, me and you and I thought the me and you kind of links in with the pairs - thought it would make a cute anniversary card. So I stamped that portion on the stamp and cut it out, stamped a few hearts and assembled. I added a little bit of the scallop dot border punch to just fill in the area a bit and "ground" the hearts a tad. Finally I chopped off some of the bottom of the card and added a button.

Hope you like this and it fits in with the theme enough. I know its a pretty loose interpretation of the theme!  Look forward to reading your comments! Thanks for stopping by,

simply stampin' challenge week 56

Hi there!

Okay I'm afraid this is going to be a super speedy post today as its gone 1am and I am shattered and need my beauty sleep so I can make sense at my class tomorrow morning.

Its Simply Stampin' Challenge time again and this week is a colour challenge -

Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla

Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Soft Suede, Pink Pirouette, Marina Mist
Carstock: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette
Punch: Doily Triple Layer
Ribbon: Chantilly Crochet Trim, Marina Mist Taffeta
Accessories: Pearls
Extras: Color Spritzer

So I spritzed the background with the color spritzer and markers and then
added some doilies over the top - covering a mistake I made. I added lots of pearls and some crochet trim and taffeta ribbon.

I hope you liked it, I must say I not totally sold on it but I thought I'd just leave it as if I did any more to it I think I would like it even less. So its a bit different from cards I usually make. What do you think?

I hope to see your creations over on the Simply Stampin' Challenge blog this week! Thanks for stopping by, sorry I'm so brief this week!

paper players challenge #91

So last week I got as far as making the card but didn't get to photographing and blogging about it in time - so you will have to see that one another day. Today I wanted to just slip in an entry for this week's challenge. Its CAS Watercolouring. For this I thought I'd crack out my brand spanking new stamps that are in the new summer mini catalogue which launches May 1st!!

Romance Framed Flowers

Stamp Set: Bordering on Romance, Tiny Tags
Ink: Black Stazon, Island Indigo, Baja Breeze, Blushing Bride, Riding Hood Red, Pear Pizzazz
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Watercolour Paper
Punches: Jewellery Tag, Corner Rounder
Big Shot: Designer Frames
Accessories: Island Indigo Baker's Twine

I started by watercolouring the flowers using one of SU's paint brushes (they hold water in the handle) - they're fab!! I then cut it out with the frame in the big shot. I stamped the borderline of flowers on some Baja Breeze cardstock in Island Indigo and stamped it 3 times without re-inking for a progressively lighter pattern. I rounded the corners and adhered the card together. Finally I added some baker's twine and some faux stitching!

Really hope you enjoyed this sneak peek! For a bit of a preview of the new catalogue and products I am holding a special preview party on Monday April 30th at 7:30-9:30pm. If you bring along a friend I haven't crafted with before I have a special little gift for you and your friend! I am also holding a super give-away on the night! To be in it there are several ways to earn give-away tickets on the night -
1 ticket for attending
1 ticket for bringing a friend (more friends, more tickets)
2 tickets for spending £30 or more
3 tickets for booking a party

fancy flower birthday

As I might have already mentioned Rhoda has been visiting for the last couple weeks and she's let me borrow lots of gorgeous goodies! I've got tons to show you over the next few weeks/months! Rhoda's sister and Stu's cousin Lydia had her birthday on Monday and here is the cute card I made for her using some of the borrowed stamps and punches!

Fancy Flower Birthday

Stamp Set: Creative Elements, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Always Artichoke
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke, Pear Pizzazz, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Regal Rose
Punches: Fancy Flower, 5 Petal Flower, Boho Blossoms
Ribbon: Always Artichoke Seam Binding, Chantilly Crochet Trim
Accessories: Pearls, Pear Pizzazz Glimmer Brad

I stamped the flourish on the background and on some Pear Pizzazz cardstock. I layered the Pear on some Always Artichoke (I haven't really used this colour much but I just thought it goes so well with Pear Pizzazz for a very elegant card!) I tore the edges too for a different shape and texture - something else I haven't done for quite a while. On top of this I layered my flower (I used the bone folder to give the flower its shape) with some folded scraps of ribbon behind it. I also added a piece of Vanilla card with the sentiment on it - I made it look like another strip of ribbon. Obviously I had to add pearls and voila there's one cute and pretty card! I hope Lyd liked it!

50th anniversary - card 3

First day back to school today for Stuart, he has a days grace though as the children aren't back 'til tomorrow so today he is being trained up and taught "new" ways to handle them! Back to school also means getting back into routine for me. I have to say I LOVE having him home for the school break but I do get out of a routine and things I should be doing just don't get done. So I am looking forward to settling back into planning events, crafting, blogging and housework.

Just a quick post today - I thought I'd show you another of the anniversary cards I made last month. Here's the one I made for my mom and dad to give.

Doily Sparkle

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand
Ink: VersaMark
Punch: Doily Triple Layer
Big Shot: Timeless Type Junior Alphabet
Ribbon: Very Vanilla Satin
Accessories: Pearls, Champagne Shimmer Mist
Emboss Powder: Gold

As before I cut out the 50 using the timeless type alphabet after I'd embossed a piece of cardstock with gold embossing powder. I used the triple layer punch to do some pretty doilies that layered on top of one another to give some depth and added colour to a very light coloured card. I was trying to go for and elegant card that just had a really small pop of colour! I tied the ribbon around the card in a bow and assembled the doilies and 50 around it. I finished off the card with some pearls and a few spritzs of the champagne shimmer mist - this one REALLY glittered - you can see it sparkling in the photo. Love it!

What do you think? I hope you like it!

Happy Crafting,

simply stampin' challenge week 55

Simply Stampin' Challenge time again! This week is a sketch challenge.

Deliciously For You

Stamp Set: Creatively Yours, I {heart} Hearts
Ink: Pool Party, Calypso Coral
Cardstock: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Basic Grey
DSP: Domestic Goddess
Punch: Scallop Edge, Crop a dile
Accessories: White Emboss Powder

Well as usual with the sketch challenge I ended up doing some jiggling around to make it work. This whole card came about because I wanted to use the Deliciously Made For You sentiment which I was borrowing from my downline. I hought it would make a lovely card paired for the domestic goddess paper. I cut strips of the paper and punched some scallop border to edge the middle panel and adhered it all down. I white embossed the sentiment on some basic grey cardstock and added hearts to fill in the blank space. But when I added it to the card it just didn't really stand out and work. so I thought I'd try making some scallop edge and add it and while I was punching away the thought came to me that I could use the crop a dile to make holes in each scallop which would then match the scallop trim in the dsp! Brilliant idea I thought! And doesn't it work well?! I added some daffodil delight underneath to help the detail show up more as its quite a busy dsp and I wanted my trim to stand out!

I hope you liked this card! Let me know what you think and leave me a comment! Then head over to the SSC blog to see the other DT entries and get creating yourself! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Happy Stampin',

50th anniversary - card 2

As promised here is the 2nd in the series of 50th anniversary cards I was asked to make for the same couple. Yesterday's post as the one I made for Derek to give Brenda and today is hers to give to him. I think that's funny that I made a card for them to give to each other! Anyway I enjoyed the challenge!

Now I guess usually anniversary cards are a bit flowery and femenine which is okay if you're giving it to a couple but for a wife to give her husband, I needed to make a masculine one! My thinking cap went on and here's what I came up with...

Scallop Circles 50 Anniversary

Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: VersaMark
Cardstock: Confetti Cream, Soft Suede
DSP: Mocha Morning Speciality
Big Shot: Alphabet Simple Numbers, Perfect Pennants
Accessories: Gold Emboss Powder, Champagne Shimmer Mist

I went for a really simple card in the end. I have to admit I wanted to do more, make it more complex but when it came down to it I just had to leave it like this or face ruining it!! I cut the scallop circles from the perfect pennants die in soft suede and mocha morning paper and layered the two on top of one another. I embossed some cardstock with gold embossing powder and then ran it through the big shot to cut out the numbers. I also gold embossed the sentiment below. Like yesterdays I also spritzed it with champagne gold shimmer mist for some extra sparkle!

I decided not to add Husband to the card (even though I did have a stamp with it on) because it just didn't fit in and I thought it would ruin the CAS card I'd made. What do you think? Think I made the right decision?

Happy Stampin'!

50th anniversary - card 1

Did everyone have a nice Easter? I hope you did!

I've been kind of quiet on my blog recently, sorry for that! My upline, Rhoda, is down for Shetland on holiday at the moment, its been nice to hang out with her for bit. I've also been spending LOADS of time playing with some stamp sets she brought down for me to play with! Oh yes my life is SO good!! I have tonnes of things to sow you over the next few weeks! Woohoo!

Today I have the first of several 50th anniversary cards I was commissioned to make last month. In total I ended up having to make 7 50th Anniversary cards all for the same couple! Obviously they all had to be special and different. Here's the one I made for the husband to give to his wife.

50 Anniversary Vines

Stamp Set: For my Family, Borderlines
Ink: Pear Pizzazz, VersaMark
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Blushing Bride
Punches: Decorative Label, Itty Bitty
Big Shot: Timeless Type Junior Alphabet
Accessories: Gold Emboss Powder, Pearls, Champagne Shimmer Mist
Ribbon: Very Vanilla Satin

I stamped the vines all over the background, then used the decorative label punch to make a window for my 50. The fifty was gold embossed and then cut with the timeless type alphabet. As this was a very long card I tied some ribbon around the bottom - where the vines didn't reach and below that I added half a decorative label with the sentiment to my wife (just to make it even more special!) The final thing I had to do was add lots of cute little flowers to the card and loads of tiny pearls!! Oh and spritzed it with glittery shimmery gold mist too!

I really love this card! I hope you like it too. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Come back tomorrow and I'll show you what I made for the wife to give to her hubby!

Happy Stampin',
